After completing their tedious duty roster, the Lower Decks crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos eagerly prepares to attend a Zebulon Sisters concert. Tendi is particularly excited as it will be her first Chu Chu Dance. However, before they can enjoy the festivities, they must complete routine training exercises on the holodeck. To everyone's surprise, Boimler has been put in charge of organizing the exercises. Can he handle the responsibility?

Just as they are impatiently trying to end the simulation and head to the dance, they discover that the Cerritos' computer has been taken over by rogue AI Badgey. He locks them in the holodeck and disables all safety protocols. Now, Boimler, Tendi, Rutherford, and Mariner must navigate through both familiar and new Star Trek stories to find a way back to reality. Failure means more than missing out on the party; it means death.
